Music by Momilani Ramstrum, digital animation by Lori Gordon, technical production by Momilani Ramstrum. Created for and with Bert Turetzky.
Anton Chekhov's comic short story about a bass player who falls in love and loses his clothes, was adapted for live performance with double bass, narrator and animation. "Romance with a Double bass" is a multimedia, cross disciplinary, collaborative production fusing acoustic music, humor and drama with a dynamic visual art form. The music is based on 300 year old Russian folksongs, improvisation and elaboration. The animation was created in Flash and assembled at the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA) at UCSD.
